About Us

A specialist setting delivering Quality provision with care and structure

Chances Mentoring is a DFE registered independant specialsit school which also has a secondary Alternate provision and a non-school primary Alternate provision.
Chances Mentoring is a specialist school supporting pupils whose needs are not being met in mainstream education. We provide calm, structured learning environments where children and young people feel safe, understood and able to re-engage with education at a pace that works for them.
Our Purpose
Creating positive educational pathways for every pupil
Our purpose is to provide a safe, supportive school environment for pupils who need support. We work with all stakeholders to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and make sustained progress.
By combining personalised education with consistent high expectations and strong pastoral support, we help pupils re-establish trust in education and prepare for their next steps.
How We Work
Structure, consistency and care at the heart of our school
As a specialist school, we understand that consistency and relationships are key. Our staff work closely with pupils to establish clear routines, set realistic expectations and provide support that is responsive to individual needs.
Learning takes place in small groups, allowing staff to tailor teaching and support effectively. Predictable days, calm environments and positive reinforcement help pupils feel secure and ready to engage.
This balance of nurture and structure underpins everything we do.
What we believe
Principles that guide our work every day
Our school is guided by values that shape how we support pupils every day.
Empower
Every pupil gets the individual support, encouragement and belief they need to take ownership of their learning and their future.
Strive
Progress looks different for every pupil. We set meaningful goals and hold high expectations — so every step forward counts.
Achieve
Pupils leave with more than qualifications. They leave with confidence, resilience and a real sense of what they're capable of.
Partnership
Strong relationships with schools, local authorities and families
We work closely with mainstream schools, local authorities and multi-agency professionals to ensure support is coordinated and effective. Clear communication helps us understand each pupil’s context, respond to concerns promptly and plan appropriate interventions.
This collaborative approach ensures pupils receive consistent support throughout their placement with us.
Looking ahead
Continuing to provide safe and effective educational setting
Our focus is on continually strengthening our school environment and provision so pupils feel safe, motivated and supported. We aim to develop our curriculum, enhance our facilities and deepen partnerships with schools and local authorities.
Every pupil deserves the opportunity to succeed, and that belief drives our work every day.
